Dr BENJAMIN SEAH

Dr Benjamin Seah graduated from the University College London (UK) in 2008 and was awarded the UCL-Singapore Undergraduate Scholarship. During his undergraduate years, he dedicated a year towards research at the prestigious Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore (UK), graduating with First Class Honours in Orthopaedic Sciences (Bachelor of Science) in 2005. He obtained his postgraduate Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2011, his Masters of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2013, and completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2017. 

 

In 2019, he received the SKH Fellowship Award for an Upper Limb Orthopaedic Fellowship under Prof. Gregory Bain at Flinders University and Medical Centre (AU). During the fellowship, he handled various complex shoulder and elbow issues. Upon his return in 2020, he established a 4-Dimensional CT Elbow imaging system for assessing intricate elbow injuries and published related research papers. As the Shoulder and Elbow Service Lead at SKH, he oversaw the management of complex shoulder and elbow injuries for the hospital. Additional surgical expertise in managing complex Rotator cuff injuries and Shoulder Tendon Transfer procedures was gained during his time at Asan Medical Centre (South Korea).

Dr. Seah was an Innovation Panel member at SKH, assessing novel ideas for better patient care and advocates the use of a bioinductive patch for the augmentation of rotator cuff repairs. He led the Ortho-biologics injection clinic for Upper limb/Tennis elbow pathologies and advocated the integration of Tele-rehabilitation with physiotherapy for patients with shoulder and knee pathologies. He has also presented at numerous conferences (locally/internationally) and published various book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals. 
 
In addition, Dr Seah has always been active in mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. He held teaching positions in LKC School of Medicine, YLL-NUS School of Medicine and Duke-NUS Medical School and is a Visiting Consultant to SKH. He was also an AO Trauma ORP regional contributor for Nurses and was recently the Chair of the AO Trauma Basic Course (2022) for Surgeons.
